Botswana Field Report — Simon McCabe

Simon McCabe is a wildlife filmmaker and RMO Media Manager who specialises in documenting real-world outdoor experiences across some of the most remote environments on the planet.

His work combines storytelling, cinematography and field production to capture life in the wild as it happens.

During a recent trip to Botswana, Simon worked deep in the field across long days of filming, travel and observation. The environment demanded constant adaptability, from early morning starts to late night setups, with changing conditions throughout.

For a trip of this nature, reliable equipment is essential. The RMO Power Vaults played a key role in keeping camera systems and devices charged throughout remote filming days. The VRH300X Pro headtorch provided dependable lighting during early starts and after-dark work, while the BaseLite system delivered practical, low-profile illumination around camp and equipment setups.

The trip highlighted the importance of dependable, simple-to-use gear that performs without distraction, allowing full focus to remain on capturing the story and environment.

Botswana once again reinforced the value of lightweight, reliable systems in demanding field conditions.
